We offer several courses including the NRA Home Firearm Safety Course, which satisfies the Ulster County education requirement for Pistol Licensees.
NRA Home Firearm Safety Course
This course will satisfy the training requirement to obtain a Pistol Permit issued in Ulster County.
This is a 4 hour, non-shooting, classroom course that teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
Topics covered include:
- The NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling
- Primary causes of firearms accidents
- Firearm parts
- How to unload certain action types
- Ammunition components
- Cleaning, care and safe storage of firearms
- The benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports
Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, the NRA Gun Safety Rules card, and the Marksmanship Qualification Program brochure.
Course completion certificates will be emailed to students after successful completion of the course.
Enrollment
The cost of the course is presently $25 per person. Payment must be made when registering on the day of the course.
Payment can be made by cash or check. We are not equipped to accept any other form of payment.
Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
